A Productive Weekend

Maeve chasing her shadow Kevin constructing new space for planting tulips

Every spring I admire the beautiful daffodils and tulips in other people's gardens and wish that we had planted our own bulbs the previous fall. Well, next year I won't have to do that, because on Friday Kevin brought home a nice variety of tulip, narcissus and crocus bulbs. It was a warm, sunny afternoon so I spent the rest of the day working in the flower beds, cleaning up for winter and hiding each little brown bulb in the earth, in hopes that when the sun shines and melts the snow next spring, my garden will be bright with blooms! In fact we needed more space to plant, so when Kevin came we created a new bed at the front of our big rock, around the irises which are already there. I took this picture of Sophie -cat sunning herself.

While outdoors on Friday, it occurred to me that the trees were suddenly bare. I suppose the leaves have been dropping for a few days, but they seemed to hang on a long time this year, so I was surprised to see them totally gone. Of course, what used to be on the trees is now on the ground, but they aren't nearly as pretty there!

Friday evening we visited Byron and Ruth who flew to Florida on Saturday for their annual fall trip to the south. We are looking forward to our time in Orlando in March break, just four months from now. In January Kevin and I are travelling to Edmonton to attend a conference called "Breakforth", where we will meet up with Jon and Miranda, then drive back to their house in Grande Prairie for a nice visit. We will hear several great speakers and Robin Mark, my favorite worship leader will be there too. And to do it all with Jon and Miranda, how great is that?
Our closet project
On Saturday Kevin and I worked on another project. We are making the room where Amy's computer was (Jonathan's former bedroom) into a guest room/ hobby room. We took the rod out of the closet and built a set of shelves to hold all my photo albums, scapbooking and cardmaking supplies. We are very happy with the results so far. The next step is to paint the walls with the taupey-grey colour I have chosen and hope it has the effect I'm hoping for. Eventually we will have a sofa bed there for guests.
Today Maeve and I are enjoying one another while her mother is at work. We braved the cold this morning and went out to play, and take her baby for a walk. . It struck me so funny when Maeve discovered her shadow. She would go across the driveway giggling because she couldn't catch it. Then she would turn around and it wouldn't be there. She even got down to touch it and try to figure out what was going on - so cute! The picture at the top is Maeve chasing her shadow!
Yesterday we had our second Sunday get-together. I am doing a six week course called "In Search of God" , so we begin at 4 pm with the Bible Study, and then those who wish can stay for a pot luck supper. We have had around ten people so far, but there is room for many more! Last night after the supper we had a a big game of Pictionary, which was a riot. Some teams had the answer before I even had a line drawn! Could it be I'm not as quick as I used to be? Oh well, it made for a great evening.
