I love being a Mum and a Gramma! Relationships with loved ones are what give life meaning, especially the relationship I have with the One who gives me life! I appreciate all the beauty of nature, I love travelling to see new places, I enjoy photography, cooking, having company and cottage living in the summer. My favourite social event is a games night with family and friends.

September Memories

Somehow the month of September zipped by and I never posted once on my blog!
A Yoho September Evening
This was the first year that we did not move home from Yoho on Labour Day. With the beautiful September weather, we were able to have an extended summer, and did not come home until last week! I am slowly returning to "real life", getting things put away and working on some serious housecleaning. I'm hoping to come up with a huge give-away or yard sale pile. It's time to get rid of useless things that are taking up space! I really want my theme to be 'Simplify'.
At the Charters family corn boil on Labour Day
At the beginning of September my parents held their annual family corn boil. It was a great day, and I'm so glad our family has opportunities to get together. My mother makes sure that we have birthday celebrations and other get-togethers to celebrate special occasions. I am thankful for that! Of course we always think of Jon and Miranda who live far away, and hope that maybe next time they can be with us too. Speaking of birthdays, our family has at least one a week in September - nephew David, Amy, my Mum, Maeve and Kevin! Lots of September babies! So we had quite a few family times last month.
Dianne at the top of Cadillac Mountain
September is also when Kevin and I celebrate our anniversary, and this year, for our 34th, we took a little trip along the coast of Maine. We started in Freeport, did some sightseeing in Boothbay Harbor, drove to Camden where we stayed a night, then finished in Bar Harbor. We stayed in three bed and Breakfast places, two of which we loved, and saw some gorgeous sights, especially from the top of Cadillac Mountain in Acadia National Park. There was time for some shopping, and some good meals - seafood of course - and the weather was incredible.
Jennifer, Richard and Maeve had a very special trip last month when they travelled to the UK to visit friends and family. They had lots of wonderful times with their relatives, and although airplane travel was stressful for Maeve, she thoroughly enjoyed the rest of the trip. They have beautiful pictures which make me long to be back in England - some day! We surprised them by driving to Halifax to meet them at the airport. We decided at the last minute to go, and it was worth the trip when I saw Jen's face.

Boating on the Oromocto River
Last weekend a few motor boats went from Pride's Landing in Fredericton Junction down the Oromocto River to French Lake and Oromocto. Kevin, Amy and Rudi enjoyed the trip in Kevin's almost antique motor boat, which runs like a dream!
The Birthday Girl
Maeve celebrated her birthday with lots of people who love her, first in England, then at Yoho Lake, then at her house on Sunday. What a happy two-year-old!
Four Generations on the Charters side

and Four Generations on the Phillips side!
This will be a special weekend with Thanksgiving celebrations, I will write about all that next week.
