If you have been wondering why I have not posted any new 'treasures' since our trip to PEI in July, my computer started having major problems in early August, just before our family reunion. All my lists, plans, ideas - everything - was on my computer, of course! So, when the day came and all my aunts, uncles and cousins on my mother's side arrived for a time of fellowship, fun and food, I had to wing it! What it taught me was that I might be too dependant on my computer, and that things always work out. Winging it isn't a bad thing!
Before the reunion Jonathan, Miranda and Miss Julia arrived for a two week stay in NB. It was SO good to see them again! Julia had grown and changed so much, and Maeve just loved her! One day I even kept both of the girls and we all did very well.
Cousins Julia and MaeveThe day of the reunion started out with very threatening looking clouds. In fact, I thought the worst thing that could happen would be that 45 people would have to squeeze into our cottage for a meal. Where would they all sit? The sun eventually came out, and our lunch was enjoyed outside. We had lots of fun activities in the beautiful afternoon, people canoed and swam, and then, what I dreaded most, happened! Just when we started to put out the food for supper there was a cloudburst! And guess what! All 45 people fit into our place just fine, tables, chairs and all. After the meal, the sun was out once more, and the evening was lovely - we had a campfire with some great entertainment, and as Maeve said, "We ate sticky things." They were toasted marshmallows, of course.
The next day a lot of people stayed or came back for brunch, which was followed by lunch, which was followed by supper. We seemed to eat all day long - aren't left-overs wonderful?
A few days after the reunion, Kevin and I went to the NB Christian Ashram, a time of rest and worship in beautiful Beulah, a church campground in Brown's Flats. Then we attended two lovely weddings, and August was over.
In early September we celebrated our 35th wedding anniversary with a trip to the White Mountains in New Hampshire. We went on some scenic drives, but the weather didn't give us very good views! We drove in the rain, we took pictures in the rain, we even went on a short hike in the rain! Actually, we had a very enjoyable time and made new memories.
We moved home from Yoho just last week, trying to make summer last a little longer, I guess. We didn't have a lot of really nice weather this summer weather, which was disappointing. There were lots of happy times though, which the weather couldn't hamper.
My computer was in the repair shop for a long time, but it took Rudi to make it really work again. He used his expertise and now it's like a brand new machine! Not only that, but he also has his internet service up and running, and we now have high speed internet. I never knew what I was missing!
Our family has lots of September birthdays. My nephew David, my mum, Amy, Maeve and Kevin were all born in this lovely month.
Not a birthday cake, but a birthday muffin for three-year-old Maeve
Kevin and Maeve had lots of fun at their birthday party! So now September is nearly done. This is a time of year I love, with all the glorious colours and lovely temperatures. We know that colder days are just ahead, and it's so nice to have this season to just enjoy!
