I love being a Mum and a Gramma! Relationships with loved ones are what give life meaning, especially the relationship I have with the One who gives me life! I appreciate all the beauty of nature, I love travelling to see new places, I enjoy photography, cooking, having company and cottage living in the summer. My favourite social event is a games night with family and friends.

Giving Thanks

I love the Bible verse that says "the trees of the fields shall clap their hands" - that is what our trees seem to be doing with all their glorious colours. We have so much to be thankful for, from the beauty that surrounds us to our food and shelter to wonderful family and friends! I'm glad there is a season set aside which reminds us to remember all of God's goodness and to thank Him.
We have had lovely family times this past weekend. Last Tuesday our friend Gordon arrived from England for a visit, and we are so happy to have him at this special time of year. He and Kevin went with a friend on Friday for a "waterfalls walk". They had lunch in the woods and took many pictures of several beautiful waterfalls. Some day I would like to see them too.
On Saturday we had lunch with Jen, Rich and Maeve at the new Montana's in Fredericton, then went for a walk on the trails around Killarney Lake. The weather was perfect and there were quite a few walkers out. Maeve loved it. Then we went to Jen's house for muffins, which we ate out on the lawn.
After church on Sunday we had the Phillips side of the family for turkey dinner - there were fourteen of us which filled both tables. I love when my house is filled with happy people!
Yesterday was our annual trek out to my Dad's camp in the woods where my parents prepare a complete turkey dinner - with no electricity! The road is quite rough so we only take trucks and have to walk part of the way. But Dad takes his truck right to the camp door because of all the supplies they need to carry. On the way home yesterday, Dad got into a water hole he couldn't get out of. So, my brother brought his truck and pulled him out. It was a bit of drama to end the day!

For that meal there were sixteen of us, and what a delicious meal it was. It somehow tastes even better prepared on a wood stove.

After dinner there was a ball game with a tennis ball and a stick for a bat. I picked up the bat and joined the game, just to surprise everyone and prove I can still handle a ball! Our team won, but I can't take any credit for that!
When we got back home last night, Gordon fixed us a supper of "Bubble and Squeak" from Sunday's leftovers. Yummy!
Remember to enjoy these days of beautiful sunshine, because we all know that winter is just ahead!
