My Christmas Tree

On this Christmas Eve morning I would like to share my Christmas tree with all of you. Each year I thik it is the most beautiful one ever! This is our 36th Christmas together, so we have quite an eclectic collection of ornaments. One item, which doesn't go on the tree, is made of plastic bells, holly and poinsettias, and is actually quite tacky, but since we chose it together in 1973, it will always be included in our Christmas decor. And now for a look at the tree. As you can see, we haven't made the switch to LED lights, or even mini lights. We are still using the 1973 version of tree lights! Maybe next year we will make the change. Notice the strings of popcorn. They are the same ones that Jennifer and Jonathan made sometime in the eighties or nineties! They have stood the test of time, for sure.

This little pink teapot made of delicate glass is the ornament that was mine to put on the tree at home when I was a little girl, and when I got married, Mum gave it to me for my own tree. It is quite precious to me.
We have some glass ornaments that are very old, having been passed down to us by various relatives.
Another of my favourite ornaments is this lovely little wooden manger scene, which I have had for many years.
Another is this tiny bird guarding her eggs in her little house, which is made of half a walnut shell and stuffed with moss. I believe the eggs are tapioca pearls.
I have an assortment of ornaments made of straw which I bought in Alberta. There are wreaths, stars, and other shapes. Here is an angel.

The icicles I use are made of metal, and I use a loop of thread to attach them to the branches, so they will move freely, reflecting the lights. Our angel on top of the tree was bought in 1985, Amy's first Christmas. Our kids always took turns putting her on the tip-top.

"O Christmas tree, O Christmas tree, how lovely are thy branches!"
