We were invited to a beautiful wedding in early September. It was held at the outdoor chapel near the Scout Lodge here at Yoho Lake. Shawn and Kara have been friends of our children for many years, and we enjoy being included in their circle of friends, too.
Mum and Dad have us all for a corn-boil the day before Labour Day, and this year it was a beautiful Sunday afternoon. Some of the ladies in attendance were my Mum's sister Audrey and her daughter Judith, both from Maine; my Mum; my sister Karen and me.
This is where the cousins sit, at the traditional "Kids' Table" - yummy corn!
The older generations eat at this table. On the menu: home-made french fries, corn on the cob, salads, and berry crisp with home-made vanilla ice cream - a real feast!
This bush grows beside our deck on the edge of the lake. I don't remember seeing such beautiful berries on it before, at least this is the first time I have taken pictures of it. I'm interested to see what kinds of birds the berries will attract.
My little Amy has turned 24! Rudi had a nice party for her at the Chalet on Sunday, lots of friends and family came for a BBQ, cake, presents and games. One of Amy's gifts was a board game called "Things", where each person writes their answer to a question such as "What things should you not put on the kitchen table?", or "What things will you do when you retire?" The object is to guess who wrote each answer. We had lots of fun playing it. When I phoned Rudi to ask him what he had bought Amy for a gift, I heard him say, "I got her things." I said, "Yes...." and waited for him to tell me what things he got, but he was talking about that game!
Another specatcular Yoho sunset reflected in the water. Somehow they just aren't the same at home!
Maeve, who is almost four, and her Papa went for a long canoe ride on the weekend and both enjoyed it until Maeve got chilly and needed her sweater. What a fun age for us! Maeve says such cute (and smart!) things, and is a real joy to these grandparents.Yes, we are well into September, and still we are enjoying Yoho living. I need to keep the electric heat on a bit and cosy up with a blanket once in a while, but it's a good place to be. I'm working on a couple of projects on the computer, and always trying to organize our digital pictures, plus I always have a couple of library books on the go, and we often have company drop in, so I can be as busy or as relaxed as I want to be. I enjoy keeping house here, since it is small and easy to tidy up quickly, so I'll stay in this summer home as long as I can!
