Another weekend is over, and the wedding is now 12 days away! That means I have a lot of loose ends to tie up and details to finalize. I also have the deadline of Jon and Miranda's arrival on the fourth, when certain things have to be ready for them.
There was a really nice family shower for Amy on Wednesday. All her aunties and grammies were there. It was at Jen's house, and was a fun time for all.
An old family friend passed away this week. Ralph Brown had been seriously ill for a couple of months, so his suffering was short. It is just three weeks since Kevin and I visited with him! On the way to his funeral on Thursday, we had a fender-bender when we were hit from behind by a pick-up truck. It shook us up some, and we need some vehicle repairs, but no one was hurt at all - thanks be to God!
Ralph's son David spent the night at our house on Friday and he and Kevin had time to catch up. It's been a while since they were able to do that, and it was good for them both.
One exciting bit of news is that Amy and Rudi have an apartment to move into. We saw it on Friday evening, and it will be a lovely home for them. It has one bedroom, a small kitchen, a dining-living area and a private balcony with a gorgeous view of the Saint John River. They have access to a swimming pool, an exercise room, a rooftop patio and a social room - a lovely place to start married life!
In June we have seen a great variety of weather conditions, in fact we had every kind of weather on Friday! It started out sunny and warmish, then sometime after lunch I noticed the sky looking very black in the west. I wondered whether the storm I saw would go around us or not. As it turned out, it came directly over our house and was a combination of wind, rain, thunder, lightening, hail and flooding. It was just wild for an hour or two! Our deck chairs had a pile of hailstones and the driveway was flowing with streams. Kevin was driving at the time and pulled over to the side, thinking the hailstones would break the windshield! Maeve was upstairs, and slept through the whole thing. I want to have such peace in the storms of life!
When I began my blog, I didn't know there would be so many ordinary, everyday things to share with family and friends near and far. But now I realize, that, of course, most of the treasures in life are just that - simple and everyday. Putting them down "on paper" in cyberspace makes me pause and take stock of my many blessings!
