There was another birthday last week - our Jennifer turned 31! (I hope she doesn't mind seeing that in print). We had a nice birthday supper at Rudi and Amy's house, known as The Chalet.
Some people stayed there overnight, (I hear they went for a soak in the hot tub after midnight!) and then we all gathered again for breakfast. On our way to the Chalet that morning we saw this buck in our field, and got a few good photos of him.
On Sunday afternoon we had what you wouldn't call your average "Sunday drive". Eight of us went in Rudi's truck and a friend's Jeep for a tour of the back woods of Tracy. The roads we drove on were pretty rough, with lots of big pools of water to drive through. First we went to a hunting camp, then stopped at place called Russell Dam. This is some of our crowd.
Just as we parked the truck, Kevin said "There's a moose!" What a massive creature he was! He began to move away as soon as we arrived, but we all got some good pictures of him.

I took this picture of a brave little clump of daisies that I saw. This must be a sheltered spot for them to be still blooming this late in October.

We then drove to Peltoma Lake, where several local people have their camps, and walked on the beach there. Then we travelled on to Little Lake for a short stop. There was a loon alone on the water, probably he will soon be heading south.
We ended our day's outing by having supper at The Old Country Bakery in Upper Tracy. A local couple has just opened this nice little place for people to drop in for a coffee or a light meal. My Toasted Western on thick slices of home made bread was delicious, and the others enjoyed their meals as well. What a lovely way to spend a Sunday afternoon in New Brunswick!
