A Walk on the Crust

What a beautiful March day it is! I knew the conditions were just right for walking on the crusty snow, so Bailey and I set out this morning for a lovely trek across the fields. Lovely crisp mornings and evenings are typical at this time of year, and with the amount of snow we have, you can walk anywhere you like. I tried sliding down the hill, but the sled didn't want to move. I think crazy carpets would go "like crazy" though! Here is a view of our valley.
I began noticing little markings around all the bushes, and at first I thought they were animal tracks, but then I realized that they were made by snow falling from them. On Sunday morning, every twig of every tree was outlined with thick snow - it was a beautiful sight. But today I loved seeing the effect of the marks in the snow, plus the delicate shadows of the little branches. This is how they looked.

I couldn't resist taking pictures of the open brook and its icy edges.

Here are some maple branches against that gorgeous blue sky.

At the end of my walk I thought again how thankful I am that is the the place on God's earth that He chose to put me! Another one of my treasures!

PS If you read my blog, I would love to know about it, so if you like, would you add your name to my list of followers?

Hello! I'm Siobhan, Jen's friend. I've only just discovered the "follower" function and noticed you were one of my two "followers"- I had no idea so I'm sorry I haven't said hello before now. Your blog is wonderful, I am especially moved by the family feeling - you are a lucky lady to have a wonderful big family and be able to spend lots of time with them!! I'm enjoying having a blog- it has become quite an important thing for me- a sort of record of our family life. I hope Jen starts one too. I'll help you to encourage her! :)
